I'm going to start posting again... hopefully.

This is a painting I did a few months ago for a rowdy-o themed show at a local art gallery. It is Glenn Beck... Crying. I dislike him.

It was originally named "Bare Back Rowdy-O"... But changed it to "Love Me."

It is acrylic paint on cardboard. About 3x5ft.

Life

So lately I've been very lazy. I went through a phase where I was doing a lot of sketches and not doing anything passed that. I have a lot of ideas that I am working through, and as I get them done I will post them! Please keep looking back on my blog! I will post something by wednesday I swear! hope you all are well!

Some Recent Practice Stuff.

These are all just really quick sketches, the time varied between 5-15 minutes. The first set are from a couple different nude drawing sessions, the second are of my fellow students who modeled in my class, and the last picture is just a hand study thing we did for a bit in one class.

There was a week between these (Above) drawings and the ones below. I can see an improvement.

The Drawings below are all from my class this last Thursday.

Friedrich Nietzsche

"When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you."
-Friedrich Nietzsche

I got inspiration to do this drawing from a photo of Nietzsche towards the end of his life. He had a mental breakdown and was just staring at the wall.

This is my first pastel drawing. I did it pretty quick, only one night of work. I feel like it is still not done, but I am not sure what else it needs, I think that the white outlining that I did was probably a mistake... Oh well... I used oil pastels and a 18x24" canvas board.

HANDS!

Just finished this tonight, I was working from small photos, so details were hard. It is charcoal on watercolor paper.

Some Recent Drawings

These are two that I did a couple of weeks ago, the top one I am pretty happy with, the nose is really off but other than that I like it. The bottom one was done from a very small photo, so getting decent shading was really difficult.

Practice Drawings

These are some quick drawings done in class of some of the other students. These aren't all of them, but the best of what I did that day. The only one that I really like is the one of Ida, the first few I did were pretty rough, just trying to get into the groove, and than after a while fatigue set in, so the quality decreased haha.

First Still Life Project

This is the first still life I did out of class. I was pretty happy about the lighter and the apple, and personally I loved the darkness of the background, but my teacher disagreed... Over all it was a fun one to do, I really wish I would have spent some time adding some detail to the box that all the stuff is sitting on, because it is a little hard to distiguish it is a cardboard box. Oh well, once again I'm sorry about the quality of the photo! Thanks for looking!

I did this using willow charcoal, and spent way too much time on it... I must have redrawn everything three times.

Shoe

Not the best photo, but its cool... After turning this one in, and looking at it from a distance, I felt like I could have spent some more time on the background, adding in some darker color. I am really happy with the shoe, but the ball of yarn sort of became a black hole in the middle.. My excuse is that it was a experiment in shading and not so much in composition.

I drew this with willow charcoal, about 2 or 3 hours of work.

Let me know what you guys think!

Some Work from the Start of Winter Quarter.

In Class Sketch

First Project: Portrait from photo

Rough Sketch from Sketch Book

Another Rough Sketch from Sketchbook

All these drawings were from the very start of class. It's funny because when I am looking at them now I hear myself ripping each piece apart with the things I don't like about them. I've been loving this class though. I feel like I have been growing tremendously with my skills just within this last quarter. Even though these are not my favorite, they are all good practice for my growth. Some of them are kinda damaged because they have spent a couple trips in my portfolio, which if you know me at all, I am sure you can imagine how incredibly unorganized it is! I hope you enjoy them, let me know what you think!

Old High School Pieces

Two pieces from high school art classes that I have photos of.

Belt Buckles

These are some of the buckles I made almost three years ago with the help of my aunt Wendy. They are all made of copper and nickel silver. All were done using cold connections via rivets.

Let's see what happens.

I decided to start this blog for anyone who is interested in my artistic progression through college. I will be updating it as much as I can with art from classes, practice sketches, any projects or ideas I am working through, and my thoughts on each piece.
