Friedrich Nietzsche

"When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you."
-Friedrich Nietzsche

I got inspiration to do this drawing from a photo of Nietzsche towards the end of his life. He had a mental breakdown and was just staring at the wall.

This is my first pastel drawing. I did it pretty quick, only one night of work. I feel like it is still not done, but I am not sure what else it needs, I think that the white outlining that I did was probably a mistake... Oh well... I used oil pastels and a 18x24" canvas board.

    Love you

  2. I disagree about the outline...I think it visually intensifies you what was happening to him mentally. I like the outline!

  3. Damned nice piece of work. The white outlining/highlighting is an inspiration. Here's a couple of links to some Nietzsche pieces I did with digital tools: one kind of a visual pun, the other a steampunk take on Nietzsche.
